One Room Schoolhouse Field Trips and Tours
The Akron Townhouse School is an excellent resource to give students a real-life experience of what it was like to attend a one-room school. The school volunteers offer field trips which include a tour and instruction. Field trips to the schoolhouse are scheduled for either the morning or afternoon. The volunteers are retired teachers who recreate what it might have been like to attend a one room country school.
Field Trips are available during the months of September, October, November, March, April, and May.

*Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War, a traveling exhibition for libraries, was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The traveling exhibition has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War is based on an exhibition of the same name developed by the National Constitution Center.

*This program is provided through a grant from the IHC Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. The Illinois Humanities
Council (IHC) is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Illinois
General Assembly (through the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency), as well as by contributions from individuals,
